A secure vault is only as good as its disaster recovery strategy. If your phone is lost, damaged, or upgraded, you need a dependable way to recover your data without compromising zero-knowledge privacy.
Method 1: Portable .vaulta Archive
You can export a standalone encrypted .vaulta backup file at any time. When exported:
- The archive contains your encrypted database, categories, Penny Flow transactions, and attachments.
- The payload is encrypted with your master key. Even if renamed or inspected, the file is unreadable ciphertext.
- You can store this file on a secure USB drive, local computer, or personal offline storage.
Method 2: Google Drive AppData Sync
For seamless cloud sync, Vaulta supports Google Drive using the restricted appDataFolder scope:
- Zero Scope Overreach: Vaulta cannot see or touch your personal Google Drive documents or photos.
- Pre-Upload Client Encryption: The backup payload is encrypted locally before transmission. Google Drive stores only ciphertext.
- Automatic Restoration: Log into the same Google account on a new phone to restore your vault seamlessly.
